Benromach OB 10yo 43%alc.

The first time we sniffed and supped this we could not believe how peaty this considering the delightful ‘Traditional’.

A while later we tried it with some more time, here is bouncy fruit, sweet esters and then the peat comes out, under this there is some spent matches as found from some other sherry matured whiskies. There is a big peaty vapour in the mouth, good balance on the tongue, slightly sweet with a peat swallow and long peat and sweet finish. Ace!

Aromatic, estery, fresh-fruity and some solvent. Cream soda and citric, pineapple cubes. Some wine notes (sauternes), cereal (husky, dried-hops). Chocolate and white-chocolate. In the mouth it is soft and sweet, evenly balanced with an excellent swallow leaving a tingle on the sour receptors.

A little water gives the impression of a haberdasher’s shop; musty linen, lemon, fermenting apples. A white chocolate finish.

A very superior whisky, classy and refined.
