Big whisky as Cragganmore always it, this one arrives with a dollop of varnish, watery citrus essence and aromatic fruit distillations, plus saddle soap and almond oil. Tasting is dry and active on the bitter notes, a little smoke and more dry fruit (citrus) and some evocation of new matchbox. An unusually dry Cragganmore.

Cragganmore FOTCM Bottling 2010 OB 14yo 40%alc.

A special limited and ‘unreleased’ bottling ostensibly for the friends of the Classic malts that has been passed over by confusion. Nonetheless it’s very good.

Musty newspaper, wood-smoke, heavy fruit (peaches and apples etc.), butter and toffee. A-bouche it is sweet and bitter with a balanced swallow. Clean, sweet fruits and zest on the side of the tongue, a touch of liquorice.

Water perks it hugely, softens the fruit to nectarines, kiwi - Opal Fruits in fact (Starburst to any underage readers).

A super-juicy-fruity dram, as Cragganmore should be, very recommended.
