Prion (Carlton) the publishers should be tarred and feathered. In 1997 when this was written and published as the Complete Guide to Whisky it was a good and relevant read, in 2000 when they published it as The World Guide to Whisky it had some residual authority and a nice cover. Now 14 years after it was written it appears in a new guise with no mention of, for example, the demolition of Pittyvaich 7 years ago!

A bloody disgrace.

This is the fifth facsimile reprint of this fabulous book. First published in 1888, it is both a travelogue and a study of our emerging industry. This enlarged second Birllinn edition features a fascinating photograph of the great man (for the first time) and is properly bound with dust cover and gilt page edges, classy or what?

Added this time is an additional 160 pages taken from four extremely rare booklets he subsequently published, one so rare the only known copy is a much-tashed photocopy, but we've brushed it up.

Also has an introduction by yours truly but don't let that put you off.
