Stock Lists : Blended Scotch : Dew Of Ben Nevis / Dewar's
| | | | Dew Of Ben Nevis Single Blend OB 40yo 40%alc.
Something very unusual, a while ago, Ben Nevis Distillery also had a Coffey still for production of grain whisky as well as malt. Some was blended and filled into cask in 1962 and has now been bottles, I only know of one other 'single blend' - Loch Lomond. The whisky, with all that marrying is great! Light, lemony and venerated oak, slightly bitter in the aftertaste this is all that a good blend should possess, complexity with no dominant characters.

Like Mitchell's from Springbank, this is a delight of blending from the West Coast. Rich full and slightly peaty. Good value deluxe dramming, buy two. [Blind tasting note from RJ during the SFWC:Nose. Vigorous, slightly smoky/peaty, gingerish, drying, old coffee, orange oil. Taste. Oily, slightly cloying, tannic. Adequate, a little sulphury and 'off' but mature, too much wood. Score 7/10]

| | Dewar's OB 40%alc.
A big seller in America. [Blind tasting note from RJ during the SFWC:Peat, salt and must over quite strong graininess and apparent high alcohol that makes it quite harsh and woody, water doesn't help at all. Quite a challenging level of bitterness with citrus fruits in the taste, well flavoured but not entirely pleasant. SCORE 8/10]
