As with many young Rothes there is initially a sulphury note, leave the glass aside for a couple of minutes. Then this is a vivacious, fruity whisky with some tobacco notes. On the tongue it soars, well balanced, all-engaging and very satisfying. A good Glen Rothes, I think I'll have another. Added to LFW.CO.UK 23-MAY-2007

Distilled at Glenrothes Distillery in 2000 and matured in a single first fill Sherry hogshead producing 300 bottles. A nose of caramel tart with ruby wedges and overall a pleasing sherry style. On the tongue it's quite intriguing, bitter, tannic weighty yet light, very complex and varied, a cherry swallow and long finish of bitter sap, that's neat. With water it becomes tepol-soapy and is soft well-balanced and pleasing, not too much sherry some crème brulee. Ace with a great finish, definitely ready for bottling. On the Malt Whisky Flavour Map we reckon this belongs in square: J6

What value! As good as Macallan 18yo, a good level of sherry initially but this goes soon to alow the supremacy of the Glenrothes make come through, an ace. A Signatory independent single cask bottling, bottled without filtration leaving all the yummy flavours locked in for you.
